The invention discloses an encryption method and apparatus for a stored file. The method comprises: symmetric encryption is carried out on a stored file by using a file secrete key to obtain an encrypted file and then the encrypted file is uploaded to a file storage server; for the stored file, an authorized user public key of each user is obtained; and non-symmetric encryption is carried out on the file secret key by using the user public key of each user to obtain a corresponding encrypted secret key and then the encrypted secret key is uploaded to a secret key storage server. Therefore, when a user needs to obtain the stored file, decryption is carried out on the encrypted file secret key by using the private key of the user, the encrypted storage file is decrypted by using the file secret key, and then the stored file is obtained finally. According to the invention, because the process that an authorized user is informed of a password for file encryption is avoided, a phenomenon that the password is intercepted by an illegal user during the password transmission process and thus the corresponding file is obtained can be prevented.
