A character input method of a remote-controller is provided. The method comprises steps of: receiving a remote-controller instruction; decoding a remote-controller instruction; executing a character search operation in a character library according to the decoded remote-controller instruction; displaying a character input method virtual interface and a corresponding character on a screen according to the character search operation; sensing movement of the remote-controller; calculating a speed v1 at which a focal point corresponding to the remote-controller on a virtual keyboard moves; judging whether the speed v1 at which the focal point moves is greater than a preset speed v; if the speed v1 is greater than the preset speed v, the remote-controller focal point automatically moves to a character that is marked and is in a distance smaller than or equal to d; and inputting a character at which the remote-controller focal point is located. The present invention further provides a remote-controller system applying the character input method. The character input method and system of remote-controller may facilitate a user to input a character on a television.
