A portable drilled well coal sample imaging device comprises a computer, an analysis platform, an imaging instrument and a remote controller. The computer is put on the analysis platform. The imaging instrument comprises an upper cover, a machine body shell and an inner frame; the upper cover is connected with the machine body shell through hinges; the inner frame is arranged in the machine body shell and provided with a side-surface camera; an upper-end camera is installed on the lower surface of the upper cover; a lower-end camera is installed on a lower panel of the inner frame; and all the cameras work together and complete coal sample three-dimensional imaging jointly. The invention further discloses a coal sample three-dimensional image collecting method. The imaging instrument adopts a mature computer image synthesis technology to collect coal sample appearance data, storing of image data of coal samples on a coal exploration site is facilitated, and exploration technology staff are help to collect and process the data in the later period; and moreover, on the premise that the technical requirements are ensured, the imaging instrument is small in overall design size and portable for the exploration technology staff, thus, the working efficiency of coal resource exploration staff can be greatly improved, and data collecting errors are decreased.
