Method of and system for finding and serving consumer product related information over the internet using manufacturer identification numbers

A method of and system for finding and serving consumer product-related information on the Internet comprising a database serving subsystem which stores: a plurality of manufacturer identification numbers (MINs) assigned to a plurality of manufacturers of consumer products; a plurality of home-page specifying URLs symbolically linked to the plurality of MINs; a plurality of universal product numbers (UPN) assigned to a plurality of consumer products made by the plurality of manufacturers; and a plurality of product-information specifying URLs symbolically linked to the plurality of UPNs. During operation, a client subsystem transmits to the database serving subsystem, a request for information which includes the UPN assigned to the consumer product on which product-related information is being sought. The database serving subsystem automatically compares the UPN against the stored plurality of MINs, and automatically returns to the client subsystem, one or more of URLs symbolically linked to the UPN, if URLs have been symbolically linked to the UPN within the database serving subsystem. However, if no URLs have been symbolically linked to the UPN, then the database serving subsystem automatically returns the home-page specifying URL symbolically linked to the MIN contained within the UPN in the request. By virtue of this novel MIN-based search mechanism embodied within the database serving subsystem, client subsystems are automatically provided with the home-page of the manufacturer's World Wide Web (WWW) site in situations where product-information specifying URLs have not yet been symbolically linked with the UPN on any one of the manufacturer's products.

Method and system for searching a dynamically updated database of UPN/TM/PD and URL data links

An Internet-based method of and system for enabling communication of consumer product information between a vendor and a consumer in a stream of commerce. The Internet-enabled system comprises an Internet-enabled database server for storing a plurality of UPN / TM / PD / URL links for each consumer product registered with the Internet-enabled database server. A first http-enabled information server enables the vendor and / or its agents to create and manage the UPN / TM / PD / URL links stored in the Internet-based information server. A second http-enabled information server publishes an HTML-encoded graphical user interface (GUI) which functions as a consumer product information (CPI) search screen for use by the consumer. An http-enabled client computer enables the consumer to (i) access and display the published HTML-encoded GUI, and (ii) provide one or more UPN, TM and / or PD data elements to the Internet-enabled database server by way of the published HTML-encoded GUI, and access and a plurality of URLs associated with the entered UPN, TM and / or PD data elements and arranged in the form of a menu of categorized consumer product information resources. By virtue of the present invention, the consumer can access and display one or more information resources on the Internet from the information resource menu, thereby enabling enable communication of consumer product information between the vendor and the consumer in the stream of commerce.

Automotive self-adaptive cruising system with multi-mode switching system and control method thereof

The invention discloses an automotive self-adaptive cruising system with a multi-mode switching system and a control method thereof. The system is divided into three layers of control structures including a mode switching layer, an upper-layer controller and a low-layer controller; a set of automobile traveling mode comprehensively arbitrating and switching mechanism is designed in the mode switching layer and is used for picking out the ideal working mode which is most suitable for the current traveling working condition from ten control modes. The ten control modes include the constant-speed cruising mode, the steady-state automobile following mode, the front automobile approaching mode, the urgent acceleration mode, the forcible deceleration mode, the curve mode, the lane changing assisting mode, the collision avoidance mode, the doubling mode and the switching-out mode. The upper-layer controller is responsible for specifically achieving the corresponding control mode and conducting continuous handling before an expected accelerated speed is output so as to avoid sudden change of the accelerated speed; the lower-layer controller is responsible for tracking the expected accelerated speed by controlling an execution mechanism of the automobile. According to the automotive self-adaptive cruising system with the multi-mode switching system and the control method thereof, the multi-mode switching system is adopted, in this way, the automotive self-adaptive cruising system can be better adapted to a complicated traveling environment, and the acceptability of drivers is improved.

Colored ink for pad transfer printing of silicone hydrogel lenses

The present invention provides a method for making colored silicone hydrogel contact lenses. The method of the invention comprises the steps of: (a) applying a color coat to at least a portion of at least one of molding surfaces of a lens mold with an ink, wherein the ink comprises at least one colorant, a binder polymer, an adhesion promoter, and optionally a diluent, wherein the binder polymer is a copolymerization product of a polymerizable mixture including (i) at least one hydrophilic vinylic monomer; (ii) at least one functionalizing vinylic monomer containing at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl group —OH, amino group —NHR (wherein R is hydrogen or C1 to C8 alkyl), carboxylic group —COOH, epoxy group, amide group —CONHR, and combinations thereof; (iii) at least one silicone-containing vinylic monomer or macromer, and (iv) optionally one or more components selected from the group consisting of a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent, and a solvent, wherein the mold has a lens-forming cavity between the molding surfaces, wherein the colored coat contains a first surface exposed to the interior of the lens-forming cavity and a second surface in contact with the molding surface; (b) curing the ink printed on the mold; (c) dispensing a silicone hydrogel lens-forming material into the lens-forming cavity of the mold; (d) curing the lens-forming material within the lens-forming cavity to form the contact lens, whereby the colored coat detaches from the molding surface and becomes integral with the body of the contact lens.

Method of and system for accessing consumer product related information at points of consumer presence on the World Wide Web(WWW) at which UPN-encoded java-applets are embedded within HTML-encoded documents

Method of and system for delivering consumer product related information to consumers over the Internet. The system and method involves creating an UPN-encoded Consumer Product Information (CPIR) enabling Applet for each consumer product registered within a manufacturer-managed UPN / URL database management system. Each CPIR-enabling Applet is encapsulated within an executable file and then stored in the UPN / URL database management system. Each CPIR-enabling Applet is searchable and downloadable by, for example, (1) retailers purchasing products from an electronic-commerce enabled product catalog, (2) advertisers desiring to link consumer product information to Web-based product advertisements, or (3) anyone having a legitimate purpose of disseminating such information within the stream of electronic commerce. After downloading and extraction from its encapsulating file, the CPIR-enabling Applet is embedded within an HTML-encoded document associated with, for example, an EC-enabled store, on-line auction site, product advertisement, Internet search engine or directory, and the like. Upon encountering such an Applet-encoded HTML document on the WWW, the consumer need only perform a single mouse-clicking operation to automatically execute the underlying CPIR-enabling Applet (on either the client or server side of the network), causing a UPN-directed search to be performed against the manufacturer-defined UPN / URL Database, and the results thereof displayed in an independent Java GUI, without disturbing the consumer's point of presence on the WWW. Preferably, the CPIR-enabling Applets are realized using Java™ technology, although it is understood that alternative technologies can be used to practice the system and methods of the present invention.
