Embodiments are provided for communicating with electronic devices traveling on an airplane. According to certain aspects, the data center may check registration data to identify a collection of electronic devices traveling on a particular flight, and may retrieve related travel information associated with the collection of electronic devices. In particular, the travel information may be generic to the flight, or the travel information may relate to one of the passengers' specified schedules. The data center may generate one or more text messages intended for one or more electronic devices in the collection of electronic devices. The data center may also transmit the text message to the onboard network for delivery of the text message to the electronic device.
