Abstract

The invention provides a storage virtualization system and method for compatibilizing and integrating heterogeneous storage devices. The storage virtualization system comprises a basic facility layer, a gateway layer and a service layer, wherein the basic facility layer is composed of at least two heterogeneous storage devices; and each of the gateway layer and the service layer is composed of a physical server. The method comprises the steps of firstly initializing the heterogeneous devices; secondly mounting initialized information to a storage gateway server of the gateway layer for enabling the initialized information to form local resources of the storage gateway server, and marking the local resources as expansion type resources; and finally mounting the service layer and the gateway layer as needed to form a final terminal server-oriented virtual storage space.
