The invention discloses a method and device for searching interest points on a map. The method comprises the following steps of receiving a searching request; determining a reference position according to the searching request; determining the value of each specified physical quantity corresponding to the distance between each interest point in an interest point set and the reference position, wherein the interest point set is formed by the interest points on the map; and determining a target interest point in each interest point as a searching result according to the determined value of each specified physical quantity and the preset physical quantity threshold value. By using the method, for different specified physical quantities, the distance can be measured from different dimensions; the measurement result is the value of the specified physical quantity; and in addition, the measurement result can reflect the practically needed advancing distance of a user from the reference position to the target interest point, or the practically consumed resources, so that the practicability of the searching result determined according to the value of each specified physical quantity and the preset physical quantity threshold value is high.
