Embodiment Construction

[0030] Hereinafter, example embodiments of the inventive concepts will now be described more fully so that those skilled in the art can easily understand the inventive concepts.

[0031] figure 1 is a block diagram illustrating an example embodiment of an image sensor 100 consistent with principles of inventive concepts. refer to figure 1 , the image sensor 100 may include an active pixel sensor (APS) array 110, a row decoder 120, a multiplexing circuit 130, a correlated double sampling circuit 140, an analog-to-digital conversion circuit 150, an output buffer 160, a column decoder 170 and Timing controller 180.

[0032]The active pixel sensor array 110 may include a plurality of pixels arranged in rows and columns. APS array 110 may include pixel cells each sharing the same floating diffusion (FD) region with each other. That is, pixels in a pixel unit may share a floating diffusion area or a floating diffusion region. In one example embodiment, one pixel unit is compose...

Abstract

An image sensor supporting various modes of operation is disclosed. The image sensor includes: an active pixel sensor array, including a first pixel unit to a fourth pixel unit sequentially arranged along a column direction, wherein each pixel unit in the first pixel unit to the fourth pixel unit includes a plurality of pixels . A first pixel group including the first pixel unit and the second pixel unit is connected to the first column line, and a second pixel group including the third pixel unit and the fourth pixel unit is connected to the second column line. The image sensor includes: a correlated double sampling circuit including a first correlated double sampler and a second correlated double sampler configured to convert a first sensing voltage sensed from a selected pixel of a first pixel group and a first sensing voltage from a second pixel group The second sensing voltage sensed by the selected pixels of the two pixel groups is respectively converted into a first correlated double sampling signal and a second correlated double sampling signal.

Description

[0001] Priority is claimed from Korean Patent Application No. 10-2015-0171656 filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office on December 3, 2015, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0002] The inventive concept described herein relates to an image sensor, and more particularly, to an image sensor supporting various operation modes that can improve the performance of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Background technique [0003] The use of mobile devices such as smart phones, tablet personal computers (PCs), digital cameras, MP3 players or e-book readers continues to increase. In order to capture images, at least one image sensor is installed on most mobile devices. For example, the image sensor may be implemented as a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) image sensor or a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor. [0004] Compared with CMOS image sensors, CCD image sensors have low noise and excellent image...
