Abstract

The present invention discloses an apparatus and method for detecting the presence of a person or object within an environment. The apparatus and method may determine differences in relative positions between emitters with unknown room positions. A transmitter can emit a decoded signal that can be detected by other transmitters in the room, and characteristics of the decoded signal can form a baseline to compare with new signals after the baseline is established. Using the decoded signals and the relative distance positions between the transmitters, the movement and position of people or objects within the room can be determined.
