Abstract

The invention relates to a composition comprising benzyl alcohol derivatives and other antimicrobial active compounds. The composition includes: (a) one, two or more compounds, which are selected from benzyl alcohol derivatives represented in the formula (I), wherein the substituent groups R1, R2 and R3 are defined as the claim 1; (b) one, two or more compounds selected as the follows: (i) 1,2-alkyldiol having 3-14 carbon atoms and having or not having a branched chain; (ii) benzoic acid, as well as an ester and a salt thereof; (iii) 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, as well as an ester and a salt thereof; (iv) 2,4-hexadienoic acid and a salt thereof; (v) 2-phenoxyethanol; (vi) 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate; (vii) 3-(4-chlorophenoxy)-1,2-propane-1,2-diol; (viii) urea and a derivative thereof; (ix) 1,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)-5,5-dimethyl-2,4-imidazolidinedione; (x) 3-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,2-propylene glycol; and (xi) isothiazolinone and a mixture thereof.
