The composition may further comprise at least one compound as shown in a general formula III which is described in the specification, wherein the compound as shown in the general formula III is a tricyclic neutral compound and has low rotary viscosity and a high clearing point. The liquid crystal composition provided by the invention can be used for fast-response liquid crystal displays of a plurality of display modes; and when applied to displays of VA modes such as VA, MVA, PVA and PSVA or to displays of an IPS or FFS mode, the liquid crystal composition can obviously improve the display effect of the liquid crystal displays.
