Abstract

Techniques and systems are provided for encoding video data. For example, a method of encoding video data includes obtaining a background picture that is generated based on a plurality of pictures captured by an image sensor. The background picture is generated to include background portions identified in each of the captured pictures. The method further includes encoding, into a video bitstream,a group of pictures captured by the image sensor. The group of pictures includes at least one random access picture. Encoding the group of pictures includes encoding at least a portion of the at leastone random access picture using inter-prediction based on the background picture.

Description

technical field [0001] This disclosure relates generally to random access for video content, and more particularly to techniques and systems for coding predictive random access pictures based on background pictures. Background technique [0002] Many devices and systems allow processing and output of video data for consumption. For example, an Internet Protocol camera (IP camera) is one type of digital video camera that can be used for surveillance or other applications. Unlike analog closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, IP cameras can send and receive data via computer networks and the Internet. Digital video data contains large amounts of data to meet the needs of consumers and video providers. For example, consumers of video data expect video to be of the best possible quality with high fidelity, resolution, frame rate, and so on. Accordingly, the large amount of video data required to satisfy these demands places a burden on communication networks and devices tha...
