The video playing method comprises the following steps: in response toa selection operation of a video, obtaining a video identifier and a user identifier corresponding to the video; requesting a video obtaining address, detailed page information and authentication state information corresponding to the video identifier from a video service system according to the video identifier and the user identifier, wherein the authentication state information is used for describing whether playing authentication related to the video needs to be played on the user identifier; when the video obtaining address and the authentication state information are received, requesting the video from the video service system according to the video obtaining address; when the received authentication state information indicates that the playing authentication does not need to be performed, playing the video obtained from the video service system; and when the detailed page information is obtained, displaying the detailed page information.
