Abstract

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for operating microcontrollers. An embodiment system includes a first processor configured to process a set of instructions and a second processor configured to process a subset of the set of instructions. The system also includes power management circuitry configured to select either the first processor or the second processor as the selected processor, the power management circuitry further configured to activate the selected processor or switch the selected processor to set to standby. The system also includes: a first peripheral configured to generate a first interrupt signal, a switch configured to direct the first interrupt signal to a selected processor, and configured to store a first interrupt signal associated with the first interrupt signal. A first memory of an interrupt routine, the selected processor is configured to execute the first interrupt routine in response to the first interrupt signal.
