Embodiment Construction

[0011] A first embodiment of an article of footwear includes a sole 10 and fastening means (eg, figure 1 3, or the upper part of a closed shoe), the fastening means are used to fasten the article of footwear to the wearer's foot so that the first surface 12 of the sole 10 contacts the foot .

[0012] Said sole 10 has a material layer 11 which preferably forms the main impact-absorbing portion of the sole 10 . Preferably, said layer 11 has a greater depth in the heel region 6 than in the fore / toe region.

[0013] Preferably, said layer 11 has a thickness at its narrowest part of at least 14 mm. Preferably, said layer 11 has a thickness at its thickest part of at most 35 mm.

[0014] Said layer 11 preferably has a first major surface 12 (upper surface) intended to face the wearer's foot and a second major surface 14 (lower surface) opposite said first major surface. Said material layer 11 may form the midsole of the sole 10 .

[0015] Preferably, outsole 20 is disposed on s...

Abstract

The invention relates to a sole (10) for an item of footwear, and an item of footwear comprising the sole (10). Preferred embodiments of the item of footwear can provide comfort for the wearer. An item of footwear comprising: a sole (10) having a layer (11) of material defining a frontal / toe region (4), a mid-foot region (5) and a heel region (6), wherein the layer (11) has a first major surface (12) for facing the foot of a wearer and a second major surface (14) opposite the first; and a securing means (3) for securing the item of footwear to a foot of a wearer such that a first surface of the sole contacts the foot, wherein: the material has the same composition in each of the frontal / toe region (4), the mid-foot region (5) and the heel region (6); the frontal / toe region (4) has formed therein a plurality of cavities such that the average density of the frontal / toe region (4) is less than the heel region (6); and the mid-foot region (5) has formed therein a plurality of cavities suchthat the average density of the mid-foot region (5) is less than the heel region (6).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a sole for footwear, and an article of footwear comprising said sole. Preferred embodiments of the article of footwear provide comfort to the wearer. Background technique [0002] From WO 2008 / 132478 it is known to provide an article of footwear 1 with a sole, such as figure 1 As can be seen in cross-section of , the sole is conceptually divided into three distinct regions: the front / toe region 4 ; the midfoot region 5 ; and the heel region 6 . The three regions of the midsole are formed from materials of different densities, with midsole region 5 being formed from the material of the smallest density. This prior art sole is thus arranged such that the weight of the wearer during walking causes instability in the sole requiring balance correction by the user. [0003] The inventors of the present invention have found that such a density arrangement provides greater comfort to the wearer than a sole of constant density throug...
