Embodiment Construction

[0014] The following is a more detailed description of various concepts related to methods, apparatuses, and systems for selectively polling sensors over a computer network, and implementations of these methods, apparatuses, and systems. The various concepts introduced above and discussed in more detail below can be implemented in any of a number of ways.

[0015] The present disclosure generally relates to selectively polling sensors over a computer network. For example, a computing system may have access to multiple sensors configured on multiple computing devices that can detect the same or similar types of information. However, requesting the same or similar type of information from multiple sensors configured on the same computing device or a group of computing devices in close proximity to each other such that the detected information is similar can be resource intensive. Furthermore, certain sensors or computing devices configured with such sensors may consume more res...

Abstract

A selective sensor polling system for a voice activated data packet based computer network environment is provided. A system receives audio signals detected by a microphone of a device. The system can parse the audio signal to identify trigger keywords and requests. The system may select a template for an action data structure having a plurality of fields. The system may determine to poll the first sensor for data of the first field. The system may determine to obtain data in memory previously collected by the second sensor. The system may generate and communicate the motion data structure using the data from the sensor and memory, and communicate the motion data structure to a third party device.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of and priority to US Patent Application No. 15 / 395,715, filed December 30, 2016 and entitled "SELECTIVE SENSOR POLLING," the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference for all purposes. Background technique [0003] Excessive network transmission (packet-based or otherwise) of network traffic data between computing devices may prevent computing devices from properly processing, completing operations related to, or responding to the network traffic data in a timely manner. Excessive network transmission of network traffic data can also complicate data routing or degrade the quality of responses if the responding computing device is at or beyond its processing capacity, which can lead to inefficient bandwidth utilization. Control of network transfers corresponding to content item objects can be complicated by the large number of content item objects that can initiate ...
