Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and device for upgrading a narrowband Internet of things (IOT) terminal and relates to the technical field of communication, and the problem of low efficiency in upgrading an NB-IoT terminal in a cell can be solved. The method comprises a step of judging whether a target cell to which the first terminal belongs has a terminal which is upgraded nowwhen service data sent by a first terminal is received, a step of sending an immediate upgrade command to the first terminal if the target cell does not have the terminal which is upgraded now, and astep of sending a delayed upgrade command to the first terminal if the target cell has the terminal which is upgraded now, wherein the delayed upgrade command comprises an upgrade time or a delay time. The embodiment of the present invention is applicable to a process of upgrading the narrowband IOT terminal.
