Abstract

The invention provides an address assignment method and an address assignment device. The address assignment method comprises the steps of: after receiving a first DHCP discovery message transmitted by a DHCP client, generating a first address request message by utilizing a primary IP address, and transmitting the generated first address request message to a DHCP server; if a response message forthe first address request message is not received, utilizing all alternate IP addresses to generate second address request messages, and transmitting the generated second address request messages to the DHCP server; and if a response message for the second address request messages is received, transmitting the received response message to the DHCP client, wherein the response message carries an IPaddress assigned to the DHCP client by the DHCP server.
