Cloud-based methods for identifying energy profile and estimating energy consumption and cloud-based energy profile usage identification system are provided. Cloud-based methods for identifying a energy profile of an end user and estimating energy consumption charges of an end user are also provided. The method includes obtaining information including a total amount of consumed energy and a totalequivalent for at least one previous period from at least one listing of the end user, and estimating a consumption profile for a plurality of time slots based on the total amount of consumed energy.The method further includes obtaining a plurality of rate schedules provided over a data network, each schedule corresponding to a energy profile provided by a utility provider, calculating an estimated equivalent for each energy profile based on the estimated consumption profile and schedule corresponding to each energy profile, calculating an error between obtained total equivalent for the period and each one of the calculated estimated equivalent for each energy profile, and selecting a energy profile from the plurality of energy profiles corresponding to the smallest calculated error as the energy profile most likely used by the end user.
