Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems and methods related to the configuration of measurement gaps to be applied by a wireless device to non-serving carriers on which the wireless device intends or expects to perform device-to-device (D2D) operations. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node includes determining whether a wireless device configured with a serving cell operating on a first frequency is synchronized to a non-serving cell operating on a second frequency, the second frequency being the non-serving frequency. The method also includes: determining whether the wireless device is configured to apply the first or second measurement gap configuration based on whether the wireless device is synchronized to a non-serving cell; and transmitting to the wireless device information configuring the wireless device to apply the determined measurement gap configuration .
