Abstract

This application relates to aquariums and non-destructive filtration systems. The disclosed embodiments include an aquarium with a non-destructive filtration system. In one aspect, an apparatus includes a housing having a closed end and an open end, a cover removably positioned over the open end, and a filter housing including a side wall that when fixedly positioned on the Enclosing the first part of the box while inside the box. An inlet in the side wall maintains fluid communication between the first portion of the tank and a second portion of the tank. The filter housing includes a filter cartridge separating the enclosed first portion into a first chamber and a second chamber, a pump disposed within the second chamber, and at a distal end of the filter housing A reservoir disposed within the second chamber. The reservoir is connected to the pump by an elongated tube and includes a discharge lip through which pumped water discharges into the tank.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to aquariums and non-destructive filtration systems. Background technique [0002] Aquariums housing aquatic life provide an aesthetically pleasing, relaxing display of movement and color that heightens the curiosity and interest of the viewer. Certain aquatic organisms, including fish species commonly housed in aquariums, thrive in aquatic environments characterized by minimal hydrodynamic flow and fluid movement. Nonetheless, aquarium maintenance, including proper water filtration and circulation, is critical to establishing a healthy aquatic environment for these fish species. Many conventional aquarium filtration systems face the challenge of balancing the need for proper water filtration and circulation with the desired hydrodynamic characteristics of the aquatic environment. Contents of the invention [0003] In one embodiment, an apparatus includes: a tank having a closed end and an open end; and a filter housing inc...
