Problems solved by technology

This can make positioning the flow diversion device more difficult and can result in insufficient porosity of the device as it expands within the vessel
Additionally, current designs tend to undesirably occlude blood flow to branch or secondary vessels close to the aneurysm

Embodiment Construction

[0073] In the following Detailed Description, specific details are set forth in order to provide an understanding of the present technology. However, the present technique may be practiced without some of these specific details. In some instances, well-known structures and techniques have not been shown in detail in order not to obscure the present technology.

[0074] An expandable device comprising a meshed membrane may be used to treat aneurysms. The expandable device can prevent blood flow along the aneurysm flow path between the aortic flow direction and the interior of the aneurysm via, for example, high pore density, small pore size, and / or high material coverage throughout the aneurysm flow path , and promote endothelial cell growth throughout the neck of the aneurysm or otherwise throughout the flow path of the aneurysm. The expandable device may comprise a one-piece, low profile, high pore density flow diverter having a single material and / or monolithic constructio...

Abstract

The present invention discloses devices that can be delivered into a vascular system to divert flow. According to some embodiments, devices are provided for treating aneurysms by diverting flow. An expandable device can comprise, for example, a plurality of connector sections and a plurality of bridge sections. Each of the connector sections may extend circumferentially about the expandable deviceand include a plurality of connector struts. Each of the plurality of bridge sections may be attached to and extend between two of the connector sections and comprise a plurality of parallel, non-branching, helical bridge members.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of and priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 313,055, filed March 24, 2016, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present technology relates generally to methods and devices for diverting blood flow in a blood vessel, and in particular to inhibiting blood flow into an aneurysm. Some embodiments of the present technology relate to flow diversion devices comprising a plurality of interconnected struts. Background technique [0004] An aneurysm is an abnormal bulge or bulge in a blood vessel where the wall of the blood vessel has become weak due to disease, injury, or a congenital abnormality. Aneurysms have thin, weak walls and a tendency to rupture, which can lead to stroke, death, disability, and more. A method of treating an aneurysm includes inserting a flow diverting stent or braid into a parent vessel comprising t...
