Embodiments of the present application disclose a location-based authentication method and apparatus. One embodiment of the method includes: sending a prompt message to a first device for finding an authentication location; receiving authentication information corresponding to the prompt information submitted by the first device before the preset time, the authentication information including location-related information of the location where the first device is located; obtaining location information of a location where the first device is located based on the location-related information; inresponse to determining that the location information of the location where the first device is located matches the location information of the authentication location, determining that the authentication of the first device at the authentication location is successful. This embodiment realizes the authentication of the offline scene and the online scene, which is advantageous for the user authentication to be used for the service related to the geographic location.
