Abstract

The embodiment of the present application discloses a vehicle speed control system and a corresponding method, for speed control of a vehicle in response to a stationary object. The speed control system comprises an environmental parameter sensor, a target detection sensor, a processor and a controller. The processor is configured to determine object information in front of the vehicle based on asignal of the target detection sensor, determine a stationary object in front of the vehicle, and determine that the stationary object is a target object for speed control according to vehicle currentroad condition information determined by a signal of an environmental parameter sensor and object information of the stationary object in front of the vehicle. As the current road condition of the vehicle is taken into consideration when judging the stationary object, the accuracy of judging the stationary object of the vehicle under the special road condition is improved.
