Embodiment Construction

[0130] figure 1 A modern wind turbine 1 is shown comprising a wind turbine tower 2, a nacelle 3 arranged on top of the wind turbine tower 2 and a rotor defining a rotor plane. The nacelle 3 is connected to the wind turbine tower 2 eg via a yaw bearing unit. The rotor comprises a hub 4 and several wind turbine blades 5 . Three wind turbine blades are shown here, but the rotor may comprise more or fewer wind turbine blades 5 . The hub 4 is connected via a rotating shaft to a drive train, eg a generator, located in the wind turbine 1 .

[0131] The hub 4 comprises a mounting interface for each wind turbine blade 5 . A pitch bearing unit 6 is optionally connected to this mounting interface and further to the blade root of the wind turbine blade 5 .

[0132] figure 2A schematic view of a wind turbine blade 5 is shown which extends longitudinally from the blade root 7 to the tip 8 . The wind turbine blade 5 further extends chordwise from the leading edge 9 to the trailing edg...

Abstract

This invention relates to a noise reducing device and a wind turbine blade comprises such a noise reducing device. The noise reducing device comprises a number of noise reducing elements projecting from a base part. A plurality of airflow modifying elements are attached to or integrated into the noise reducing elements. The airflow modifying elements extend from a local first end to a local secondend along at least one of the first and second side surfaces. The airflow modifying elements has a height of no more than two-thirds of the boundary layer thickness and spacing of no more than one-thirds of the boundary layer thickness. The noise reducing elements are preferably serrations. The airflow modifying elements are preferably vanes projecting perpendicularly from the side surface of thenoise reducing elements.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a noise reduction device for a wind turbine blade having a first end, a second end, a first side surface and a second side surface, wherein the noise reduction device comprises a A base member, at least one first array of noise reducing elements extending from the proximal end to the second end, and at least one second array of noise reducing elements disposed relative to the first noise reducing elements. [0002] The invention further relates to a wind turbine blade with at least one noise reduction device as described above. Background technique [0003] It is well known that the large wind turbine blades of modern wind turbines are affected by trailing edge noise generated by the airflow through the aerodynamic profile of the wind turbine blade. The airflow transitions from a substantially laminar airflow to a turbulent airflow on both the suction and pressure sides, which separates from the local boundary layer at...
