Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, this problem is still prevalent because the device is not anchored into the IVC in a stable manner
In addition to blood clots, continued blood flow can change the orientation of the filter within the IVC, making recapture difficult

Abstract

The embodiments described relate to retrieving temporary Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filters and other endovascular implants or foreign bodies. Features are provided for effective actuation in closing aninner aperture of the embodiments.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments described herein relate to retrieval devices, and some embodiments relate to systems and methods for intravascular temporary inferior vena cava (IVC) filters. Background technique [0002] Temporary IVC filters are placed like permanent filters, but are designed so that they can be retrieved in a separate endovascular procedure, usually from the femoral or internal jugular access. Most currently available temporary filters include a hooked feature by which they can be captured and received in a catheter or sheath for removal by employing a gooseneck snare or a multi-loop snare. [0003] Although retrieval is in principle a simple procedure, difficulties are often encountered with capturing the filter's hook with the snare loop(s). This difficulty is compounded when the filter is tilted or placed out of balance. Several filters have been designed to avoid this orientation. [0004] However, this problem is still prevalent because the devi...
