Abstract

The invention provides a method for gas leak detection based on carbon-14 isotope, thereby solving technical problems of being lack of the effective detection way and being limited by the detection precision of the existing gas leak detection technology. The method comprises: adding a trace amount of carbon-14 methane into the continuously conveyed base gas; and carrying out surface atmosphere collection along a routing area of a conveying pipeline and determining a pipeline leakage position based on the transition change of the carbon-14 abundance in the surface atmosphere. With the atmospheric abundance characteristics of carbon-14, the carbon-14 detector is able to collect the carbon-14 concentration change accurately in the e local atmospheric background by using the carbon-14 abundance in the atmosphere as a background reference and the temporary concentration in the region formed by the accidental leakage of artificially added carbon-14 methane as a measuring value.
