Embodiment Construction

[0056] The examples below will be described with reference to diapers. However, the concepts described are equally applicable to other types of absorbent objects - such as incontinence garments, sanitary napkins, tampons, bandages or bed protectors, among others. The example here is for a mattress topper but could equally apply to other types of bedding such as on sheets, duvets. It can also be arranged in a blanket or a thin mattress.

[0057] figure 1 A system 1 for detecting moisture in diapers according to a first example of the invention is shown. The system 1 of the first example will be shown with a bed 2 carrying a patient 3 wearing a diaper 4 . The system 1 comprises a device 5 for detecting moisture in a diaper 4 . System 1 further comprises a monitoring unit 6 and antenna 7 . The monitoring unit 6 is connected to an antenna 7 . Whether the monitoring unit 6 detects a detection signal from the device 5 , eg its absence, can be used to detect whether the patient...

Abstract

A mattress cover for detecting a resonance frequency of a device and a method thereof are provided, the device comprising a device for detecting moisture at a water-absorbing object and arranged to adhere to the water-absorbing object. The mattress cover includes at least two fabric layers, an antenna disposed between the two fabric layers, and an interface connecting the antenna to a monitoring unit for transmitting a test signal from the antenna to the device and receiving a response signal from the device detected by the antenna. The antenna is arranged to reduce magnetic field interferenceeffects between different portions of the antenna.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a mattress cover including an antenna for detecting a resonant frequency of a device. In particular, mattress covers are used for moisture detection. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and method including a mattress cover for detecting moisture in absorbent objects. Background technique [0002] Moisture detection is important in many situations. One situation involves absorbent objects such as diapers. In the prior art it is proposed to notify such as a caregiver when moisture in the wearer's diaper is detected, whereby the caregiver knows it is time to change the diaper. [0003] WO 2007 / 069945 discloses a wetness detection device comprising an electric circuit integrally formed in a water absorbent object such as a diaper. However, such a wetness sensing device may be impractical and uneconomical since it needs to be integrated with the diaper, thus requiring a specially manuf...
