The method comprises the steps that contaminated substances on the surface of the cutting tool are removed, and the surface of the cutting tool is activated; the abovecoating layers are deposited successively in a periodical and alternative manner on a matrix of the cutting tool through a cathode arc ion plating technology; and through furnace cooling, the coatingwith the multilayer gradient structure, which is applied to the cutting tool, can be obtained.
