Abstract

The invention discloses a method for estimating an installation angle of a road monitoring camera, and belongs to the field of road monitoring. The method comprises the steps of: performing detectionof a horizontal vanishing point on an image acquired by a camera based on parallel lines; and obtaining an installation angle of a road monitoring camera by utilizing a relationship between the horizontal vanishing point in the image and the installation angle of the camera. Through adoption of the method of the invention, priori knowledge of external conditions of a road monitoring scene is combined with a projection transformation principle in an imaging principle, the relationship between the vanishing point and the installation angle of the camera is utilized, and the characteristic that there are only two angles of degrees of freedom in an installation process of a security camera is supplemented, the two concerned installation angles are calculated through a mathematical formula, inthis way, after the monitoring camera is installed, the installation angle of the camera can be automatically calculated on the basis of not increasing any operation process; the method can automatically identify the installation angle at fixed interval time, so as to adapt to the influence of natural environmental factors on the installation angle of the camera, thereby achieving the purpose of automatic labeling.
