Abstract

This invention relates to a process for manufacturing a primary zinc-alkaline battery, which comprises the step of preparing a gelled alkaline anode mix containing an aluminiferous zinc alloy powder as an active material, characterized in that a powered calcium compound is used as an ingredient of the anode mix in a sufficient amount to lower the tendency the battery shows to develop a short-circuit when the calcium compound is absent in its anode mix, or the separator paper contains a calcium compound.
