Embodiment Construction

[0060] Figures 2a to 2g A graphical user interface (GUI) according to some embodiments of the invention is shown.

[0061] like Figure 2a As shown, four PoIs 200.1 , 200.2, 200.3 and 200.4 are identified and positioned relative to device 220 , in particular relative to screen 210 of device 220 .

[0062] PoI 200.1 is on-screen, while PoIs 200.2, 200.3, and 200.4 are off-screen. As explained, the invention aims to improve GUIs that are displayed to imply the location of off-screen PoIs in an aggregated manner, while retaining information about the mutual distances of the PoIs, and at the same time depending on the number of PoIs, their respective distances, This enables the user to precisely manipulate the device.

[0063] now refer to Figure 2b , the edge of the screen 210 closest to the off-screen PoIs 200.2, 200.3 and 200.4 is marked 202.

[0064] According to the invention, a zone of predetermined shape and centered on the PoI is calculated, said zone being located ...

Abstract

The present invention concerns a method of displaying an Augmented Reality, AR, Graphical User Interface, GUI, on a device. The method comprises detecting (402) Pols that are located off-screen basedon visual data acquired by the camera and on information related to locations of Pols. Then, for each detected off-screen Pol, a zone of a predetermined shape and centered on the Pol is determined (403), the zone being at least partly located on-screen. On-screen apexes corresponding to intersections of edges of the respective zones are determined and a continuous curve is determined (405, 406, 407) based on the on-screen apexes. A GUI is displayed by superimposing the visual data and the continuous curve, wherein the operations are performed in real time during acquisition of the visual data.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the enhancement of human-computer interaction, in particular, but not exclusively, in the context of detecting points of interest (PoI) using handheld devices providing augmented reality. Background technique [0002] Augmented reality (AR) consists in the interactive experience of real-world environments, in which objects present in the real world, such as points of interest (PoI), are augmented by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, Touch, Somatosensory and Smell. Next, consider the context of augmented reality using visual information. [0003] In an industrial context where operators combine industrial machines with augmented reality devices, such as for maintenance, users walk around the machine, standing at different distances and at different angles, and looking for clues about the PoI. This requires the user to be able to easily d...
