[0036] During operation of the aircraft, the flight crew operating the aircraft may receive messages in text form. These messages may include information provided by air traffic management agencies, corporate agencies, weather services, and the like. One type of message that may be received is a "Controller-Pilot Data Link Communication" (CPDLC) message. CPDLC messages include information related to flight plan changes, takeoff and landing instructions. While the foregoing discussion has primarily focused on CPDLC messages, it should be understood that the systems and methods discussed herein may be applied to other text-based communications between aircrew and related agencies. In some embodiments, the systems and methods disclosed herein may allow for the selective display of CPDLC messages to the flight crew without requiring a permanent footprint on the flight bridge dedicated to the CPDLC window.
