Abstract

The invention provides a reversible information hiding method based on an AMBTC compression technology and Huffman coding. Firstly, an AMBTC is used for compressing an original grayscale image, and each block reaches two quantization levels and one bitmap; next, the bitmap of each block is converted into a decimal number for calculating the occurrence frequency of the decimal number. A user-defined threshold value is used for dividing the block into two situations, namely an embeddable block and a non-embeddable block. If the frequency of the decimal number is greater than or equal to a threshold, the corresponding bitmap is embeddable and then compressed using Huffman coding techniques. If the frequency of the decimal number is less than a threshold, the corresponding bitmap is non-embeddable. According to the method, the original bitmap is replaced by the Huffman code, and the residual space of each block bitmap is vacated to embed secret information.
