[0019] In general, for a female catheter user, it may be difficult to locate her urethral opening. Some users can use a mirror to solve the problem, but trying to locate the small opening in the mirror can be challenging. As a result, many users end up using trial and error - poking around until they find the opening of the urethra. For each catheter tip touching tissue surrounding the urethral meatus (i.e., vaginal or rectal area), there is a potential risk of contamination of the tip with bacteria that can be carried to the urethra / bladder when the catheter tube is inserted middle. This contamination carries the risk of urinary tract or kidney infection.
