Embodiment Construction

[0045] figure 1 Shown is a plan view of a screening medium 100 comprising a plurality of openings 102 in a body 101 , also known as a screening cloth or screening mat. These openings 102 comprise a substantially rectangular cross-sectional profile (in the plane of the contact face 301 ), and comprise a width and a corresponding length in the range of 1 mm to 50 mm, typically 10 mm to 20 mm. Thus, the contact surface 301 is partly defined by what may be considered beams 103 and 104 extending between the openings 102 and at least partly delimiting said openings. The relative width of the beams 103 and 104 (in the plane of the contact surface 301 ) is in the range of 30% to 60% of the width of the opening 102 . The defined flow direction of the material to be screened is generally indicated by arrow 105 . The main axis MN of the rectangular orifice is inclined at about 45 degrees from the material flow direction 105 in the counterclockwise direction relative to the material flo...

Abstract

Screening media f(100) or screening material comprising a main body (101) and a plurality of openings (102) extending through the main body between the contact face and back face. The openings are ofa shape of convex and non-regular polygon, and are arranged in an orientation such that a line through the most proximal vertex of the polygon and parallel to a defined material flow direction (105) divides the most proximal interior angle of the polygon. Such a configuration allows the openings to not easily get pegged and to improve screening performance.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to sieving media for use in sieving materials having a size distribution, and in particular, but not exclusively, the present invention relates to sieving media having specially designed orifice shapes. Background technique [0002] Vibratory separators have been commonly used in a variety of applications involving size-based separation of materials. One of the important applications of vibratory separators is found in the mining and mineral processing industries, where these separators or screening units separate the material fed thereon into different grades based on particle size due to the vibration of the screening media. For this purpose, a sieving medium is used which has sieving openings through which smaller stones pass. Stones larger than the screening openings are conveyed from the top of the screening media and are sent out at the end of the vibrating screen unit. Note that overuse of conventional screening m...
