Problems solved by technology

As a result, these plastic impurities will be absorbed by hydraulic components, causing malfunctions in the operation of hydraulic components
Even if installed properly, due to the operation of loading and unloading, some plastic debris will be generated, so when the permanent hydraulic connection is installed, it will also contaminate the hydraulic components

Embodiment Construction

[0019] The orifice plug 10 is made of an elastic synthetic rubber material, such as Nitrile, also known as Buna-N. This is a commonly used synthetic rubber, especially to make O-rings. Netreir materials are inherently stable to hydraulic fluids, transmission fluids, and non-polar petroleum-based products. Netrell material preferably has a temperature range of approximately -40°F to 275°F and has a durometer hardness of 70-90. Netrell materials in this hardness range were found to have good wear resistance and reasonable elasticity. The plug material should preferably be resistant to any major abrasion that would result in chips of elastomeric material during loading and unloading.

[0020] Such as figure 1 As clearly shown, the port plug 10 has a central axis 12, upper and lower end portions 14,16, and a smooth unthreaded cylindrical outer wall 18 disposed between the ends 14,16.

[0021] The plug also includes a flange 20 disposed between the upper end 14 and the cylindri...

Abstract

A plug for a threaded port is formed of resilient elastomeric material and has upper and lower ends. A smooth non-threaded outer cylindrical wall is disposed between the ends. The outer cylindrical wall has an outer diameter sufficient to frictionally engage the threads of the port. An outwardly protruding collar is disposed between the upper end and the outer cylindrical wall. An annular bead is integrally formed on the collar and is adapted to sealingly engage an inner peripheral surface of the port.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of plugs for orifices in hydraulic devices. More particularly, the present invention relates to port plugs for hydraulic components having SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) straight thread (male) O-rings. The orifice plugs of the present invention can also be applied to other types of orifices. Background technique [0002] When contamination-sensitive hydraulic components such as pumps, motors, etc. are manufactured and ready to be shipped to the user, their connection ports are often fitted with temporary "shipping" plugs. The purpose of installing these plugs is to seal the hydraulic fluid, such as oil, inside the component during transportation, and also to prevent external contamination impurities from entering the component. When the user receives the hydraulic components and is ready to use them, these temporary shipping plugs are removed and discarded so that permanent hydraulic connections can be instal...
