Hydraulic device for the injection of bone cement in percutaneous vertebroplasty

The present invention relates to the medical field, in particular relates to the practice of percutaneous vertebroplasty where a pair of syringes in the distal extreme of a lengthened hydraulic device, are united by a camera of intermediate connection of larger diameter (pressure exerting body) or modified inverted syringe tube with a bolster, a hydraulic connecting tube of flexible material that transmits the pressure of the smaller diameter manual or impulsion syringe in the proximal extreme of the device toward the intermediate cylindrical larger diameter camera (pressure exerting body), this camera is in an inverted position with regard to the first syringe (fluid control), this intermediate camera has a moving piston longitudinal to the axis of the cylinder that is controlled with the first syringe (manual) and in cooperation with the atmospheric pressure. The injecting syringe loaded with bone cement is coupled with the bolster of the body of pressure, and to the needle that drives the cement toward the interior of the bone. The intermediate camera (pressure exerting body) together with the hydraulic tube and the manual syringe form a hydraulic press system (F/A=f/a) that allows to increase in a potential way the pressure exerted in the first syringe and to make the injection of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) at an approximate distance of 1.0 m to 1.5 m.

Brake system for motor vehicles and method for operating the brake system

The invention relates to a brake system for motor vehicles, comprising a master brake cylinder (2), to each of the two pressure chambers of which a brake circuit (I, II) with wheel brakes (8, 9, 10, 11) can be connected or is connected, an electrically actuatable block valve (23a, 23b) for each brake circuit (I, II) for separating the pressure chamber (17, 18) from the brake circuit, a first electrically controllable pressure supply unit (5), an electrically actuatable sequence valve (26a, 26b) for each brake circuit (I, II) for hydraulically connecting the first pressure supply unit (5) to the brake circuit, and a simulation unit (3) which can be hydraulically connected to at least one pressure chamber (17) of the master brake cylinder (2) by means of a simulator release valve (32), wherein a second electrically controllable pressure supply unit (49, 149) having at least one intake port and a pressure port is provided, the intake port of which is connected or can be connected to one of the pressure chambers (17, 18) and the pressure port of which can be connected or is connected to the brake circuit (I, II) associated with the pressure chamber. The invention further relates to a method for operating a brake system.

Multiple azimuth control of vertical hydraulic fractures in unconsolidated and weakly cemented sediments

The invention is a method and apparatus for initiating multiple azimuth controlled vertical hydraulic fractures in unconsolidated and weakly cemented sediments from a single bore hole to control the fracture initiation and propagation of hydraulic fractures at differing azimuths. The multiple azimuth vertical fractures enable greater yield and increased recovery of petroleum fluids from the formation. An injection casing with multiple fracture initiation sections is inserted and grouted into a bore hole. A fracture fluid carrying a proppant is injected into the injection casing and opens fracture initiation sections to dilate the formation in a direction orthogonal to the first fracture azimuth plane. Following completion of the first fracture injection, the fracture fluid is injected into the injection casing and opens a set of second and subsequent fracture initiation sections dilating the formation and initiating and propagating a second and subsequent vertical hydraulic fractures at different azimuths to the first and subsequent earlier installed fractures. The injection casing initiation sections remains open after fracturing providing direct hydraulic connection between the production well bore, the permeable proppant filled fractures and the formation.
