The method is applied to the server and comprises the steps of acquiring a travel query request sent by a user terminal, wherein the travel query request comprises a departure place, a destination and travel time; determining one or more driving paths from the departure place to the destination at the travel time, wherein each driving path comprises a plurality of road sections which are communicated in sequence; for each driving path, determining vehicle passing data of each road section in the driving path in a corresponding driving sub-time period so as to determine a road unimpeded traffic score of the driving path in a target driving time period, wherein the target driving time period representing a time period from the travel time to the arrival time, and the driving sub-time period corresponding to one road section is the estimated time period spent by the user vehicle to pass through the previous road section of the road section; and according to the road unimpeded traffic score of each driving path in the target driving time period, generating a travel suggestion and returning the travel suggestion to the user terminal.
