The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a standard template group comprising a plurality of expression base templates with different expressions and neutral expression base templates, a neutral expression base of a virtual object of a to-be-generated expression, and a connection relationship between a facial region of the neutral expression base template and a component, wherein the neutral expression base template and the neutral expression base are provided with components, and the components are non-skin parts of a facial area; based on the connection relationship, binding the neutral expression base template and respective components on the neutral expression base with respective facial areas; and generating a first expression with the component according to the neutral expression base bound with the component and the facial area and a standard template group comprising the neutral expression base template bound with the component and the facial area.
