Abstract

A liquid feeding system (2) for liquid chromatography is provided with a liquid feeding mechanism (3) configured to continuously feed a liquid by means of at least one plunger pump (12, 14) for feeding a liquid by reciprocating driving of a plunger; a pressure sensor (16) for detecting the pressure of a liquid being fed by the liquid feeding mechanism (3); and a liquid feeding failure detection unit (22) configured to cyclically obtain the pressure of the liquid being fed, detected by the pressure sensor (16) at a cycle enabling reading of a variation in one drive cycle of the liquid feeding mechanism (3), and detect failure in liquid feeding in the liquid feeding mechanism (3) by using the obtained pressure of the liquid being fed. The liquid feeding failure detection unit (22) is configured to execute, in order, a pulsation detection step for obtaining the variation range of the pressure of the liquid being fed within a prescribed drive cycle of the liquid feeding mechanism (3), and detecting pulsation on condition that the number of continuous occurrence of the cycles in which the variation range exceeds a prescribed reference value has exceeded a prescribed reference number; and a liquid feeding failure detection step for detecting failure in liquid feeding in the liquid feeding mechanism (3) when the pulsation has been detected in the pulsation detection step.
