Embodiment Construction

[0146]Various exemplary embodiments of the present binaural hearing aid system are described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the drawings are schematic and simplified for the sake of clarity and therefore only show details essential to the understanding of the invention, while other details have been omitted. Like reference numerals refer to like elements throughout. Therefore, it is not necessary to describe similar elements in detail with respect to each drawing.

[0147] figure 1 A binaural hearing aid system 1 comprising a left hearing aid 10L and a right hearing aid 10R is schematically shown, wherein the hearing aids 10L, 10R each comprise a wireless communication unit 14L, 14R for connection to another hearing aid. In this embodiment, the left hearing aid 10L and the right hearing aid 10R are connected to each other by a two-way wireless (or possibly wired) data communication connection or link 12...

Abstract

The invention relates to a binaural hearing aid system comprising hearing aids for placement at or in the left and right ears of a user. Each hearing aid comprises a microphone device, a wireless communication unit, a receiver, and a sound channel with a valve that can be moved from an open state to a closed state, or from the closed state to the open state. The binaural hearing aid system further comprises a signal processing device adapted to generate a beam formed signal based on the microphone signals provided by one or both of the microphone devices and to apply the beam formed signal to one or both of the receivers, and a valve control device. The valve control device has an asymmetric state in which the valve control device is configured to asymmetrically control the valves in each hearing aid by moving the valves to a position at which one valve is opened larger than the other valve.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a binaural hearing aid system which provides beamformed signals to at least one receiver of the binaural hearing aid system. Each hearing aid in a binaural hearing aid system includes a sound channel in which a valve is opened or closed. The valves in the two hearing aids are asymmetrical, where one of the two valves opens more than the other. [0002] Furthermore, the invention relates to a method of providing a beamformed signal to one receiver of a binaural hearing aid system, providing an omnidirectional signal to the other receiver of a binaural hearing aid system, and simultaneously closing a valve in one sound channel Open the valve in the other sound channel. Background technique [0003] In noisy listening conditions such as restaurants, bars, concert venues, etc. (so-called cocktail party scenarios), individuals with normal hearing are able to selectively focus on, for example, target speakers in order to achieve sp...
