Embodiment Construction

[0061] Figure 1a A vehicle 1 comprising a device 2 according to the present disclosure is shown schematically. The vehicle 1 comprises at least one light source 3 arranged to be connected to an electronic control unit (not shown) arranged in the vehicle 1 . The electronic control unit is configured to determine the tunnel exit location and, in response to the determination of the tunnel exit location, change the light flux of at least one light source 3 of the vehicle 1 as the vehicle 1 approaches the tunnel exit location. The at least one light source 3 is arranged to change its luminous flux in a progressive manner at least between the first luminous flux and the second luminous flux. The luminous flux can eg increase linearly, exponentially or anti-logistically, continuously or discontinuously.

[0062] exist Figure 1a and 1b , the method is depicted in that the interior lights of the vehicle 1 are used as light sources 3 which are arranged to vary their luminous flux. ...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus (2) for light adaptation of the eyes of a driver of a vehicle (1) when driving out of a tunnel. The method and apparatus (2) determines a tunnel exit location (TEP) and, in response to the determination of the tunnel exit location (TEP), changes a light source luminous flux of at least one light source (3) in the vehicle (1) as the vehicle (1) approaches the tunnel exit location (TEP).

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for light adaptation of a vehicle driver's eyes when exiting a tunnel. Background technique [0002] When moving from a poorly lit place to a well lit place, the human eye takes some time to adjust to the new light conditions. This is called photoadaptation and usually lasts a few seconds. However, during these few seconds it can be difficult to see and if this happens in a driving situation it can cause an accident due to the driver not being able to see, for example, a bend in the road. This is often the case when exiting a tunnel, as some tunnels have poor or no light at all, and drivers who have adapted to the darker conditions inside the tunnel are suddenly exposed to sunlight. This can temporarily blind the driver. [0003] GB 2475870A discloses a method for window shading of a motor vehicle which determines how much shading is required based on information provided from cameras and navi...
