The invention discloses a direct type backlight light-emitting diode display and a light-emitting control method, the light-emitting control method is suitable for the direct type backlight light-emitting diode display, and the direct type backlight light-emitting diode display comprises a backlight plate, a driving circuit, a detection circuit and a control circuit. The backlight plate is provided with a first light-emitting group and a second light-emitting group, and a plurality of first light-emitting diodes of the first light-emitting group and a plurality of second light-emitting diodes of the second light-emitting group are arranged in a staggered mode. The driving circuit is used for being actuated to selectively drive the first light-emitting group and the second light-emitting group to emit light; when the detection circuit detects that any one of the light emitting diodes is in an abnormal state, the detection circuit sends an abnormal signal.
