Embodiment Construction
[0040] In Fig. 1 a diffuse mode panel 11 is produced using the teaching of WO97 / 09842. The panel has a preferred scatter pattern aspect ratio of 1:882 or 1:0.707. A transducer 13 is installed at a preferred transducer location behind the panel. A shallow speaker 15 defines a shallow cavity 17 together with the panel 11 . A conduit 19 is provided at the end of the cavity. The conduit is a quarter wavelength of the coupled bulk mode of the panel 11 on springs formed by the air in the cavity 17 and any elastomer in the panel 11 support. A sound-absorbing material 21 is provided in the conduit 19 .
[0041] refer to figure 2 , which is a second embodiment illustrated at the rear of cavity 17 of 260mm by 210mm. The panel 11 forms the upper surface of the cavity and the transducer is shown at 13 . The four conduits 19 provided are respectively on the four sides of the cavity. Each duct is 120mm long; therefore, all four ducts are tuned to the same resonance, here the overall ...
