Problems solved by technology

[0003] A disadvantage of this data transmission system is that at the receiving end the compressed data must be decompressed, therefore, for a lossless data compression system, the exact structure of the data must be obtained when the data is decompressed, likewise, even for lossless data compression system, decompresses the data and then estimates the lost data
This need for decompression adds to the overall difficulty in performing data transfers combined with compression

Embodiment Construction

[0019] In the following description, the same reference numerals denote the same parts, respectively, throughout the specification and the drawings. The drawings may not be to scale and some elements are shown in generic or schematic form and labeled with commercial designations for clarity and conciseness.

[0020] FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a data transmission system 100 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. System 100 allows data, such as video data, to be transmitted in a manner that does not require compressing the data, resulting in significantly lower bandwidth requirements for data transmission.

[0021] System 100 includes a data transmission system 102 coupled to a data receiving system 104 through a suitable communications medium 114 . As used herein, the term "couple" (and its cognates such as couples and coupled) can include physical connections (such as copper conductors), virtual connections (such as through randomly assigned memo...

Abstract

A system for transmitting datan is provided (See fig. 2). The system includes a frame analysis system (See fig. 2, item 106) receiving frame data such as a frame of video data, and generating region data (See fig. 2, item 112), such as a uniform matrix size (fig. 2, item 204) that is used to divide the frame into a predetermined set of matrices. A pixel selection system (fig. 2, item 108) receives the region datan and generates one set of pixel data for each region, such as by selecting one of the pixels contained within each of the original matrices that comprise the frame (fig. 2, item 104).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of data transmission, in particular to a system and method for optimizing data transmission for reducing bandwidth requirements for data transmission. Background technique [0002] Data transmission systems are known in the art. Such data transmission systems usually use compression to reduce bandwidth requirements. For example, compression techniques are characterized as "lossless" when no data reduction occurs, or "lossy" when data loss occurs that does not adversely affect expected usage. [0003] A disadvantage of this data transmission system is that at the receiving end the compressed data must be decompressed, therefore, for a lossless data compression system, the exact structure of the data must be obtained when the data is decompressed, likewise, even for lossless data compression system, decompresses the data and then estimates the lost data. This need for decompression adds to the overall difficu...
