Embodiment Construction

[0035] figure 1 is a block diagram of the structure of an image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. The image forming apparatus includes a data input unit 100 , a control unit 110 and a print head 120 .

[0036] The data input unit 100 receives image data to be printed from a personal computer (PC), a digital camera, a personal digital assistant (PDA), or the like.

[0037] The control unit 110 generates a control signal for controlling the operation of the print head 120 according to the received image data. The print head 120 receives a control signal from the control unit 110, and prints an image on a medium by driving a plurality of recording elements. The print head 120 may include, for example, an ink jet head or a thermal print head. The inkjet head includes a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink droplets to each corresponding dot to be printed. Each nozzle ejects a drop of ink and prints an image using a piezoelectric element in ...

Abstract

A method for driving a print head and an image forming apparatus employing the method are provided, wherein recording elements of the print head are divided into n groups and driven to print an image on a medium, wherein the recording elements from the n groups, respectively, are , one recording element from each of the n groups is simultaneously driven, and the driving order of the recording elements is arranged such that the printing positions of the recording elements in each group form a plurality of oblique lines as the medium is fed. Accordingly, a plurality of recording elements divided into a plurality of stages are driven non-sequentially, so that power consumption and degradation of print quality due to driving the recording elements can be reduced.

Description

[0001] This application claims the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2004-0095533, filed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office on Nov. 20, 2004, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0002] The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of non-sequentially driving a plurality of recording elements of a print head divided into a plurality of phases and an image forming apparatus employing the method. Background technique [0003] Generally, an image forming apparatus converts a document made by a user using an application program or an image obtained by a user using a digital camera or the like into encoded data, and outputs the data to a medium in a visible form. [0004] A thermal transfer printing apparatus for obtaining a high-quality printed image forms an image by heating an ink ribbon in contact with a medium with a thermal print head...
