Problems solved by technology

Misalignment sometimes occurs between the profiling heating die and the profiling connection flange, thus causing inaccurate heat sealing of the port to the board
As is readily apparent, inaccurate heat sealing results in scrapped containers
Additionally, production is adversely affected due to alignment requirements since the heated die must be aligned with the connecting flange

Abstract

A flexible container is disclosed that includes flexible front and rear panels, and one or more container ports disposed between the panels. The one or more vessel ports each have a bendable connecting flange and an integrally molded mouth. The bendable connection flange has a first configuration whereby the connection flange collapses to enable heat sealing of the connection flange to the plate and subsequently substantially recovers its shape to provide a fluid passage with the port. Various end ports, end caps, and rubber septa can be used with one or more container ports.

Description

technical field [0001] With the aid of a specific discussion of flexible containers having a container port secured between the front panel and a rear panel comprising a bendable connecting flange, a general discussion is made here of sealing a flexible front panel to a flexible back panel along a perimeter flexible container. Background technique [0002] Flexible containers are widely used to package nutritional solutions, diluents, pharmaceuticals, intravenous (IV) solutions, and the like. Broadly speaking, these flexible containers are manufactured by affixing a first flexible sheet to a second flexible sheet along a perimeter and inserting one or more ports between the two sheets, the ports being used to fill other liquids , discharge, and / or replenish or add to the container. The panels used to make the flexible container can be made from single-layer flexible thermoplastic panels or from multi-layer flexible thermoplastic panels. The one or more ports typically inc...
