Abstract

Provided is an air bag capable of receiving an occupant in a wide area of the occupant confronting surface at the initial stage of inflation and an air bag device equipped with this air bag. The inside of the air bag 10 is partitioned into a radiating direction chamber 1 extending in the air bag radiating direction along a front panel 12, a central chamber 2 on the rear side of the central part of the air bag, and a peripheral chamber 3 at the periphery of the central chamber 2. The central chamber 2 and the radiating direction chamber 1 are in communication through communication holes 22c and 22e. A communication holer 22d to put the radiating direction chamber 1 in communication with the peripheral chamber 3 is provided at the forefront of each radiating direction cell 1b of the radiating direction chamber 1. From an inflator 36, gas is jetted into the central chamber 2 and is introduced to the radiating direction chamber 1 from the central chamber 2, and the radiating direction chamber 1 is inflated and spread in the air bag radiating direction.
