Embodiment Construction

[0026] Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. It should be understood that the embodiments described below are only illustrative, and therefore do not mean any limitation to the implementation of the present invention. It should also be understood that in the drawings, the dimensions, thicknesses and other parameters of various components are exaggerated as necessary for the purpose of easy understanding, and thus are different from the actually adopted values.

[0027] 1A and 1B show views of the structure of a deformable mirror embodying the present invention. FIG. 1A shows a perspective view of the deformable mirror of this embodiment, where individual components of the deformable mirror are in an exploded state. Fig. 1B is a cross-sectional view along the line a-a in Fig. 1A, which shows a state where individual components are arranged together.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a variable-shape mirror which has a support substrate, a mirror portion that faces the support substrate and that has a mirror surface on the side thereof opposite to the side thereof facing the support substrate, a plurality of fixing portions that fix the mirror portion to the support substrate, and a plurality of driving portions that deform the mirror surface by expanding and contracting between the support substrate and the mirror portion. On the support substrate, a plurality of elevations are formed to serve as a plurality of bonding surfaces bonded to a plurality of fixing portions, as a plurality of electrodes bonded to a plurality of driving portions to feed voltages thereto, and as a plurality of conductors electrically connected to a plurality of electrodes.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a deformable mirror that allows the shape of the mirror surface to change, and is designed to be used in an optical pickup device or the like. More particularly, the present invention relates to a structure of a deformable mirror capable of efficient assembly and a method of manufacturing such a deformable mirror. The invention also relates to an optical pickup device provided with such a deformable mirror. Background technique [0002] When using an optical pickup to read or write information from or to an optical disc such as a CD (Compact Disc) or DVD (Digital Versatile Disc), the relationship between the optical axis of the optical pickup and the disc surface should theoretically be vertical. In reality, however, their relationship does not always remain perpendicular as the disc rotates. As a result, for an optical disc such as a CD or DVD, when the disc surface thereof becomes inclined with respect to the optic...
